LANGHORNE, Pa. – The Cairn University baseball team lost, 17-13, at home against non-conference foe Ramapo College inside the Stillman Complex on Tuesday evening.
 
Ramapo (17-12, 4-6 NJAC) garnered the early advantage with a two-run second inning, before Cairn (11-16, 4-5 CSAC) took its first lead after throwing up a six-spot in the third inning (6-2). Both teams traded runs back-and-forth, matching one another in the fourth, sixth and seventh innings, and the Highlanders held a 12-8 lead after seven. The Roadrunners cut the deficit to just two (12-10) after a two-RBI knock in the top of the eighth inning, before exploding for seven runs in the top of the ninth to take a 17-12 lead. Cairn put one run across in the bottom half, but Ramapo held on for the win.
 
Cairn was led offensively by freshman 
Zach Bauers (Cooper City, PA / Cooper City) with a team-high three hits and two RBIs. Senior 
Jake Arnoldy (West Grove, PA / Wilmington Christian) followed with a pair of knocks, while classmate 
Tyler Fox (Boyertown, PA / West-Mont Christian Academy) added two hits and matched classmate 
Cam Culver (Croydon, PA / Truman) with three runs scored. Sophomore 
Dylan Jackson (Levittown, PA / Chestnut Hill College) was efficient on the bump, going five innings, scattering three hits, three runs (two earned) and striking out five in a no-decision effort. Jackson added a bases-clearing triple at the plate.
 
The Highlanders will be back on the diamond tomorrow when they travel to Hackettstown for a non-conference tilt with Centenary University (NJ) at 3:30 p.m.
