PHOENIXVILLE, PA - The Cairn University Women's Soccer team took on Valley Forge on Wednesday afternoon, shutting out the Patriots 4-0.
Cairn (3-3-2 / 2-0-1 United East Skye Division) went ahead 1-0 in the 33rd minute on sophomore defender
Emilee Hess' (Alburtis, PA / Salem Christian) first goal of the season, assisted by senior midfielder
Micaela Prate (Huntingdon Valley, PA / Calvary Christian Academy). Freshman midfielder
Paige Noble (Egg Harbor Township, NJ / Atlantic Christian School) would follow-up two minutes later with her first career goal (34th). The half came to a close with the Highlanders leading 2-0. As the second frame got underway, Valley Forge (0-7 / 0-3 United East Skye Division) would attempt their only shot of the game, sailing out high. Cairn would add to their lead as senior midfielder
Teresa Lee (Jackson, NJ / Calvary Academy) would push the margin to 3-0 in the 75th minute. Prate would this time add a goal to her day, assisted by senior defender
Grace Miller (Chapel Hill, NC / Central Bucks West) as the match came to a close with the Highlanders taking the 4-0 victory.
Cairn outshot the Patriots 35-1, not allowing the ball to get anywhere near senior goalkeeper
Isabelle Portis (Midland Park, NJ / Eastern Christian High School). Hess, Noble, Lee, and Prate would each have a goal with Prate also recording an assist along with Miller.
The Highlanders are back in action Saturday for Senior Day at home as they host Rosemont College at noon.
