MORRISTOWN, NJ – The Cairn Women's Soccer team took on Saint Elizabeth University on the road, Saturday afternoon, holding off the Eagles, 4-1.
Saint Elizabeth (6-7-1 / 1-5-1 United East Skye Division) got on the scoreboard in the 26
th minute, facing Cairn (5-5-3 / 4-4-2 United East Skye Division) with a 1-0 deficit. Sophomore forward
Victoria Vega (Branchburg, NJ / Timothy Christian) scored for the Highlanders in the 43
rd minute going to halftime all knotted up at 1-1. The second half would be all Cairn starting with freshman midfielder
Paige Noble (Egg Harbor Twp., NJ / Atlantic Christian School) putting the Highlanders up 2-1 in the 57
th minute as she spun around a defender and into the goal. Graduate defender
Rachel Yoder (Telford, PA / Souderton) would be next, scoring in the 64
th minute from just outside the box past the keeper low. Senior midfielder
Teresa Lee (Jackson, NJ / Calvary Academy) put the match out of reach in the closing minutes, netting her 5
th goal of the season in the 80
th minute. Cairn would hold on the take the match by a final score of 4-1.
The Highlanders outshot the Eagles 23-7 (14-3 on goal). Vega, Noble, Yoder, and Lee has the goals for Cairn. Senior goalkeeper
Isabelle Portis (Midland Park, NJ / Eastern Christian High School) picked up two saves in 76 minutes of play.
Cairn Women's Soccer closes out their regular season on the road, Tuesday, as the team heads up to Keystone College to take on the Giants at 7 p.m.
