CHAMBERSBURG, PA – The Cairn Women's Soccer team fell to the Phoenix of Wilson College Saturday afternoon on the road, 2-0.
Wilson (12-3-1 / 7-0-1 United East Skye Division) went ahead on the Highlanders 1-0 with a goal in the 34
th minute followed by another in the 39
th minute which pushed the lead to 2-0. Senior midfielder
Teresa Lee (Jackson, NJ / Calvary Academy) would take three shots in the half as Cairn (4-4-3 / 3-3-2 United East Skye Division) went into the break looking for a shift in momentum. Shots would fly for the Highlanders out of halftime as freshman midfielder
Paige Noble (Egg Harbor Twp., NJ / Atlantic Christian School) and senior midfielder
Becca Marzinke (Quakertown, PA / Upper Bucks Christian) would force the Phoenix goalkeeper to make key saves. Despite outshooting Wilson 6-4 in the second half, the Highlanders would run out of time as they fell to the Phoenix, 2-0.
As mentioned, Cairn held the advantage in second half shots, 6-4, while Wilson would barely outshoot Cairn, 10-9 in the match. Noble and Lee each took three shots, with a shot on goal apiece. Marzinke would fire off two shots on goal as well.
The Highlanders return home as they take on the Lions of Bryn Athyn College on Wednesday night in Langhorne. The action kicks off at 7 p.m. from inside the Stillman Athletic Complex.
