BALTIMORE, MD – The Cairn University Men's Soccer team traveled to Baltimore on a rainy Saturday afternoon to take on Notre Dame of Maryland University, pulling out the victory in the closing minutes, 2-1.
The first half action saw multiple shots as Cairn (5-5-4 / 2-1-3 United East Skye Division) held the 8-4 shooting advantage over Notre Dame (5-6-1 / 5-2 United East Skye Division). Alijah Miller (Monroe, NC / Homeschool) sparked the Highlander comeback, scoring in the 84
th minute, assisted by junior midfielder
Caleb Rudloff (Quakertown, PA / Geneva College). Junior forward
Jesse Brittain (Chester, PA / The Christian Academy) followed up less than a minute later with the game-winning goal as the Highlanders held off the Gators to secure the 2-1 victory.
Cairn would manage 10 shots in the second half, holding Notre Dame (MD) to only three, while the margin on shots in the match was in favor of the Highlanders 18-7 as well as 8-2 shots on goal. Miller and Brittain found the back of the net, each with a single shot on goal, Fiacco had the lone assist on the afternoon, while junior midfielders
Moses Beers (Lancaster, PA / Manheim Twp) and Rudloff peppered the net with 5 and 4 shots, respectively.
Cairn Men's Soccer will face off against the Lions of Bryn Athyn College on Tuesday in Bryn Athyn. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
