LANGHORNE, Pa. – The Cairn University men's soccer team was back on the pitch on Wednesday afternoon as they hosted the Devils of Farleigh Dickinson University-Florham in fiery non-conference action, falling in the final minutes by a score of 3-2.
Cairn (3-5-2) got on the scoreboard in the opening minutes with a goal by sophomore forward
Jesse Brittain (Chester, PA / The Christian Academy) past the diving FDU-Florham (4-2-2) goalkeeper in the seventh minute. Both squads exchanged shots but none found the back of the net for the remainder of the half. FDU-Florham came out of halftime with an immediate response, tying the match 1-1 four minutes into the half (49

Micah Portis (Abington, PA / Abington Senior HS) found the back of the net on a leaping header for the Highlanders' counter, assisted by sophomore midfielder
Moses Beers (Lancaster, PA / Manheim Township), in the 55
th minute. FDU-Florham tied things up again in the 63
rd minute and would have the last word with a go-ahead goal in the 73
rd minute. Despite a hard fought effort in the closing minutes, Cairn fell short as the final whistle sounded.
For Cairn, Brittain and Portis each had a goal on three shots. FDU-Florham led the way in total shots (17-14) but Cairn held the edge in shots on goal (11-9). Graduate student goalkeeper
Kameron Clark (Ewing, NJ / Ewing HS) collected six saves in his first action of the 2022 season.
The Highlanders close their non-conference schedule on Saturday as they host the Griffins of Gwynedd Mercy University for Senior Day, kicking off at 7 p.m.
