Cross Country: Women Take Second Place at CSAC Preview Meet

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The Cairn University women's and men's cross country teams continued their respective 2022 campaigns at the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Preview Meet, hosted by Bryn Athyn College on Saturday morning. As a team, the women finished second overall out of the five programs that finished with team scores, only finishing behind the University of Valley Forge, who won the event. The men did not qualify for a team score.
 
For the women, the Highlanders were paced by senior Isabella Palladino (Langhorne, PA / Homeschooled) who placed 12th in the 34-runner field with a 6K time of 33:51. Palladino was followed by junior Jordan Harvey (Chichester, PA / The Christian Academy) with a mark of 35:37 to place 14th, while junior Amanda Schlabach (Greenwood, DE / Greenwood Mennonite) placed 17th with a time of 36:23. Senior Madeline Chase (Apalachin, NY / Ross Corners Christian Academy) crossed next for the Highlanders in 18th place with a time of 37:06, while freshman Amber Farrell (Philadelphia, PA / Franklin Towne Charter) rounded out the day for the Highlanders in 23rd place with a time of 39:52.
 
The men were led by senior Tim Colgan (Port Jervis, NY / Homeschooled) who crossed first for the Highlanders in 16th place of the 34-runner field with an 8K time of 35:50. Junior Joseph Keeports (York, PA / Central York HS) followed Colgan in 18th place with a mark of 36:40, while sophomore Nicholas Palladino (Langhorne, PA / Homeschooled) clocked in at 36:55 to place 19th. Junior Isaiah Castellucci (Gloucester, MA / Landmark HS) finished the day for Cairn with a time of 37:05 to slate in the 20th position.
 
The women's and men's cross country teams will be back on the course on Saturday, September 25 when they make the trip to Abington to compete in the Penn State Abington Invitational. The men are out of the starting gates at 9 a.m. followed by the women at 10 a.m.
