LANGHORNE, Pa. – The Cairn University baseball team won, 17-5, at home against non-conference adversary Albright College in five innings due to darkness/rain on Thursday. With the win, Cairn collected its third-straight victory and topped their season-high run total by one run from their last contest.
Albright (1-26, 0-6 MAC Commonwealth) jumped out of the gates first, putting up five runs over the first three innings and held a 5-0 lead heading into the bottom of the third. Cairn (15-11, 4-4 CSAC) got back into the contest with a four-spot in the bottom half, highlighted by a two-run homer by junior
Samuel Spadea (Yardley, PA / Pennsbury) and an RBI-double by junior
Luke Weaver (Little Rock, AK / Baptist Prep). The Highlanders blew the game open in the bottom of the fourth frame with a seven spot (game was delayed midway through the inning due to lightning) and followed that with six runs in the fifth inning before the game was called due to darkness. The Highlanders scored all 17 runs unanswered.
Cairn was led offensively by Weaver who posted a three-for-three (all doubles) day at the plate with and a career-high four RBIs. Spadea followed with a pair of hits and matched Weaver with four RBIs and a game-high three runs scored. Senior

Cairn will be back on the diamond on Monday, April 18 when it returns to Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play at home inside the Stillman Complex for a doubleheader with Clarks Summit University at 12 p.m.
