LANGHORNE, Pa. – The Cairn University men's volleyball team won, 3-0 (25-14, 25-7, 25-14) at home against Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) foe Pratt Institute on Thursday evening. Before match, the Highlanders honored their sole senior,
Dave Cassel (Silverdale, PA / Pennridge) with a ceremony highlighting his career as a Highlander.
Cairn (13-4, 11-0 CSAC) battled through a back-and-forth first set and held a narrow 13-10 lead over Pratt (2-14, 2-7 CSAC) at the midway point. The Highlanders responded by claiming nine of the next points to finish off the set and take a 1-0 match lead. After dominating the second set (25-7), Cairn got out to a 20-9 lead in set three before the Cannoneers score five points in a row to get back in the set. The Highlanders regrouped and rattled off five of the final six points to finish off the match.
Cairn was led offensively by Cassel, who poured in a career-high 15 kills to pace the Highlander attack. Cassel was followed by junior
Cameron Cronk (Quakertown, PA / Quakertown Community) with seven kills and seven digs, while junior
Caleb Horning (Adamstown, PA / Cocalico) posted five kills. Sophomore
Nathan Tran (Turnersville, NJ / Washington Township) led the Highlander passing game with a match-high 15 assists, while junior
Josh Moyer (Quakertown, PA / Quakertown Community) added a match-high eight digs.
Cairn will be back in action on Saturday, April 2 when it competes in its final regular season contest against CSAC foe Wilson College inside the Mason Activity Center at 11 a.m.
