ROSEMONT Pa. – The Cairn University men's volleyball team won, 3-0 (25-18, 25-11, 25-10) on the road at Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) foe Rosemont College on Friday evening, sweeping the Ravens for their fifth-straight victory.
Cairn (6-4, 4-0 CSAC) battled through an evenly contested first set with Rosemont (3-8, 3-2 CSAC) to claim a 25-18 victory. In set two, the Highlanders controlled momentum from the opening serve, jetting out to and 8-1 lead as they never trailed in the set. Cairn closed out the match with a commanding 25-10 victory in set three to claim a decisive CSAC victory.
Cairn was led offensively by junior
Caleb Horning (Adamstown, PA / Cocalico) who slammed down a season-high 13 kills to the tune of a .476 hitting percentage. Sophomore
Joe Poirier (Nogyang, South Korea / International Christian School) followed with seven kills (no errors) and a match-high three solo blocks. Junior
Joshua Hoagland (Chiang Rai, Thailand / Chiang Rai International Christian School) added five kills and a match-high five service aces. Junior
Shea Scott (Harleysville, PA / Souderton) dished out a match-high 23 assists, while classmate
Josh Moyer (Quakertown, PA / Quakertown Community) scooped up a match-high five digs.
Cairn will be back in action on Monday, March 21 when it wraps up its season series with Bryn Athyn College in a road conference bout at 7 p.m.
