ST DAVID'S, Pa. – The Cairn University baseball team lost, 9-2, on the road at non-conference opponent Eastern University on Friday afternoon, ending the Highlanders six-game winning streak.
After both teams were tied through the end of the first inning, Eastern (4-10) broke through with four runs in the second inning. The Eagles broke the game open in the bottom of the fourth frame, adding another four runs to take an 8-0 lead. Cairn (7-4) added their lone two runs of the contest in the sixth inning off a two-RBI double by junior

The Highlanders were led offensively by senior
Joshua Melchior (Boyertown, PA / Valley Forge Baptist Academy) who tied a team-high with two hits (both doubles) with graduate student
Brian Amantia Jr. (Columbus, NJ / King's Christian) and junior
Samuel Spadea (Yardley, PA / Pennsbury). Cairn was boosted on the mound by graduate student
Ben Spadea (Yardley, PA / Pennsbury) who tossed a pair of scoreless innings in relief, while junior
Jake Kraihanzel (Bethlehem, PA / Liberty) threw one scoreless inning on the bump.
Cairn will be back in action on Sunday, March 20 when it opens up Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play on the road at the University of Valley Forge for a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m.
