LANGHORNE, Pa. – The Cairn University baseball team opened up their brand new baseball field at the G. Patrick Stillman Athletic Complex, falling 20-3 against Lebanon Valley College in a single nine-inning game on Tuesday evening.
Lebanon Valley (9-5) utilized a strong outing from starting pitcher
Shane Stossel to stifle the Highlander bats, as Cairn (7-5) mustered just two hits over five innings against the tall righty, while the Flying Dutchmen bats attributed for 16 hits in the contest. The Highlanders scored their three runs in the bottom half of the last frame, capped off by a two-RBI base hit from freshman
Mike Olszewski (Willow Grove, PA / Upper Moreland).
The Highlanders were led offensively by junior
Joe Greenwood (Wall, NJ / Calvary Academy) with a pair of base knocks, while Olszewski and classmate
Ty Gossel (Allentown, PA / Covenant Christian) each recorded their first career collegiate base knocks.
Cairn will be back in action on Thursday, March 24 when its back on the road to take on Rutgers Newark at 3 p.m.
