Women’s Soccer: Highlanders Stopped by Falcons on the Road

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Cairn University women's soccer team saw their three-game win streak come to a close on the road at Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) foe Cedar Crest College by a score of 2-0 in a rematch of last year's conference semifinals on Wednesday evening.

Cedar Crest (7-3-2, 4-0-1 CSAC) wasted no time getting in on the scoring, notching its first tally just over three minutes into the contest. The Falcons added another goal just three minutes later to boost their advantage to 2-0, a lead they took into intermission. Cairn (8-5-1, 3-2 CSAC) picked up the pace in the second half, generating six shots, but couldn't manage to break through past the Cedar Crest back line as the Falcons held on for the victory.

Cedar Crest out shot Cairn in the contest (25-6) and held the edge in corner kick opportunities (7-1). Juniors Teresa Lee (Jackson, NJ / Calvary Academy) and Becca Marzinke (Quakertown, PA / Upper Bucks Christian) led the offensive output for Cairn with two shots a-piece. Sophomore net minder Isabelle Lazor (Midland Park, NJ / Eastern Christian) kept the Highlanders in the contest, matching a career-high with 17 saves in a complete game effort.

The Highlanders will be back on the pitch on Saturday, October 15 when they return home to take on conference adversary the University of Valley Forge inside the Stillman Complex at 3:30 p.m.
