Men’s Soccer: Highlanders Roll to First Conference Win of Season over Bryn Athyn

LANGHORNE, Pa. – The Cairn University men's soccer team collected their first Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) victory of the season following a 3-0 shutout at home over Bryn Athyn College on Wednesday afternoon.

"It was a good team effort today to secure an important win." remarked Head Coach Luke Gibson. "Conference play is always a battle and every game is vital."

Cairn (5-5-3, 1-0-1 CSAC) immediately jumped out to a 1-0 lead after senior David Falcon (Wayne, NJ / Hawthorne Christian) netted his fourth goal of the season following a rebound attempt courtesy of sophomore Jesse Brittain (Chester, PA / The Christian Academy) in the 10th minute. Cairn increased its lead to 2-0 after Brittain found classmate Moses Beers (Lancaster, PA / Manheim Township) for a tally in the 34th minute. The Highlanders added their third tally just three minutes later when sophomore Caleb Rudloff (Quakertown, PA / Geneva College) distributed a through ball to a streaking senior Aaron Campbell (Coopersburg, PA / Upper Bucks Christian), who darted the length of the field and score his first career goal. Cairn held Bryn Athyn (3-7, 0-2 CSAC) off the scoreboard in the second half en-route to the shutout. Cairn out shot Bryn Athyn in the contest (19-14) and bested the Lions in shots on goal (11-7). Cairn earned all the corner kick opportunities in the contest (6-0). Brittain led the offensive effort with a pair of assists, and fifth-year net minder Kameron Clark (Ewing, NJ / Ewing) posted the shutout with seven saves between the pipes.

The Highlanders will be back on the pitch on Saturday, October 15 when they hit the road to Morristown to take on CSAC foe Saint Elizabeth University in conference action at 2 p.m.
