Men’s Soccer: Highlanders Draw in Double Overtime Conference Opener with Rosemont

BRISTOL, Pa. – The Cairn University men's soccer team fought to a double overtime, 1-1 draw in their home Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) opener against Rosemont College on Saturday evening.

Cairn (3-2-2, 0-0-1 CSAC) traded shots throughout the first half with the Ravens of Rosemont College (4-3-1, 0-0-1 CSAC) until freshman midfielder Jack Fiacco (Sunderland, MD / Northern H.S.) put the Highlanders on the board, finding the back of the net in the 43rd minute late in the first half. Fiacco's goal was assisted by senior defender Josh Goodyear (Camp Hill, PA / Camp Hill H.S.) and freshman midfielder Moses Beers (Lancaster, PA / Manheim Township) after Goodyear launched a throw-in towards the Rosemont net, where Beers flicked it to Fiacco for the tally.

Rosemont put up a late fight and got on the board with a goal by Kaiden Fields in the 83rd minute with a left-footed shot from just over 20 yards out to force overtime. The Highlanders put up a wall around senior goalkeeper Kameron Clark's (Ewing, NJ / Ewing High School) goal, deflecting multiple tries by the Ravens. Finally, after two fiery overtime periods, the match closed as a draw.

Rosemont held the advantage in shots (29-12) and shots on goal (10-5) while Highlander goalkeeper Kameron Clark secured nine saves in a 110-minute, complete game effort.

The Highlanders are back on the pitch Wednesday, September 29 on the road against Farleigh Dickinson University – Florham in Madison, NJ for a non-conference bout. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
