Women’s Soccer: Highlanders Light Up the Scoreboard in Second-Straight Win

BRISTOL, Pa. – The Cairn University women's soccer team won by a score of 7-1 at home against Brooklyn College on Saturday, marking their second-straight win.
 
Cairn (2-3) started out even hotter than its victory over Trinity on Friday, as senior Lauren Costa (Egg Harbor City, NJ / The Pilgrim Academy) scored just seconds after the opening kickoff to put the Highlanders up 1-0. Cairn sophomore Becca Marzinke (Quakertown, PA / Upper Bucks Christian) found the back of the net in the 15th minute to put Cairn up 2-0, before the Highlanders added two more goals courtesy of junior Kayla Koch (Sellersville, PA / Faith Christian Academy) in the 27th minute and senior Sarah Jackson (Milltown, NJ / Middlesex County College) in the 45th minute, as Cairn took a 4-0 lead into halftime over Brooklyn (0-4). The Highlanders put up thee more goals in the second half, as senior Dakota Hitchner (Ocean View, NJ / Atlantic Christian School) score twice and Jackson added another goal to round out the complete offensive effort.
 
Hitchner propelled the Highlanders offensively with two goals and a career-high two assists, while Jackson matched Hitchner with two goals herself. Junior Rachel Yoder (Telford, PA / Souderton) and sophomore Savannah Luce (Nairobi, Kenya / Rift Valley Academy) each added an assist on the day. Freshman goalkeeper Isabelle Lazor (Midland Park, NJ / Easter Christian) hauled in a career-high seven saves in a complete game victory.
 
The Highlanders will be back on the pitch on Monday, September 20, when they are back home for a non-conference contest with Penn State Mont Alto at Bristol Township Park. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
