The Highlanders improved to 6-2 this season with their second consecutive win over the Clarks Summit Defenders, 75-64.
Tonight's matchup was more closely contested than the last game against the Defenders, when the Highlanders ran away with an 86-40 point victory. Clarks Summit produced a much better offensive performance, shooting 40% from the floor compared to last night's 25% outing. However, the Defender's long-range shooting woes continues, hitting only 1 three-point shot out of 14 total attempts. Although the Defenders used their improved shooting to stay within single digits of the Highlanders late in the game, Cairn's lead was never truly in jeopardy, and the Highlanders left Clarks Summit with their second consecutive win.
The Highlanders actually improved their shooting from last night's performance, upping their field goal percentage to 48% and their three-point percentage to 43%.
Dashaun Cain led the Highlanders with 17 points, followed closely by
Josh Forker's 15 points, including 3-6 from beyond the arc. The Defenders were moderately successful in shutting down big man
Kameron Clark offensively, holding him to his second straight game of 9 points. However, Clark continued to exert his dominance on the glass, pulling down 10 rebounds to lead all players.
Clarks Summit's Keith Hammonds was the high man of the game with 19 points.
The Highlanders will be back in action against the Lancaster Bible College Chargers on Monday in Langhorne at 5:30 PM. The last time the two teams met, Cairn went cold in the second half of a hotly contested game, ultimately falling 86-68.
