The Highlanders got back into the win column tonight, with good shooting that quieted a young Clarks Summit squad and led to a final score of 86-40.
This was a great rebound game for the Highlanders, who are coming off of two tough losses in the past week. Cairn took a 3-2 lead a minute into the first half on a
Josh Forker three pointer and never looked back, putting up 45 first half points and hitting 7 threes while holding the Defenders to 16 points on 23% shooting. The second half was much of the same: the Highlanders shot the ball well from everywhere on the floor (47% FG and 38% 3PT), and their perimeter defense held Clarks Summit to only 2-13 shooting from beyond the arc. While Clarks Summit went deep in their bench to find an offensive spark, no Defender scored more than 7 points in the game.
The Highlanders were led by
Noah Mitchell's season-high 21 points on 8-13 shooting, including knocking down 5 of 9 three-point attempts. Center
Kameron Clark, who is averaging 16 rebounds a game, stayed on track with 17 rebounds tonight and was one point shy of his 3rd double-double in a row.
Dashaun Cain (11 pts.) and
Jesse Rivera (10 pts.) were the other two Highlanders with double-digit scoring.
The Highlanders will have a quick turnaround before facing the Defenders again in the second half of this weekend's home-and-home series. Tomorrow's matchup at Clark Summit will tipoff at 7 PM.
