Men’s Soccer: Highlanders Roll Past Lions for Third-Straight Victory

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The Cairn University men's soccer team won by a score of 3-0, shutting out Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) foe Bryn Athyn College on the road for their third-straight win and fifth-consecutive game without a loss on Wednesday evening.

Cairn (6-2-2, 2-0-1 CSAC) continued its theme of getting out to a hot start, as freshman Moses Beers (Lancaster, PA / Manheim Township) collected a loose ball just outside the box and buried the shot to the upper-right portion of the net to give Cairn a 1-0 lead just under four minutes into the contest. The Highlanders were not done, as senior Garrett Seidel (Harleysville, PA / Upper Bucks Christian) found some room off a feed from freshman Jayson Fields (Vineland, NJ / Cumberland Christian) and Seidel launched a shot over the outstretched arms of Bryn Athyn (3-6, 1-2 CSAC) keeper Michael Haas to make in 2-0 in favor of Cairn with one second remaining in the first half. The Highlanders added an insurance goal in the 56th minute, as freshman Jesse Brittain (Chester, PA / The Christian Academy) scored his league-leading 10th goal of the season to make it 3-0, which ended up being the final score.

Cairn topped Bryn Athyn in shots (12-7) and shots on goal (7-3). The Highlanders also bested the Lions in corner kicks (5-2).

The Highlanders will be back on the pitch on Tuesday, October 12 when it returns home to take on the Unviersity of Valley Forge in a CSAC contest being held at Bryn Athyn College. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
