Men’s Soccer: Highlanders Run Past Valley Forge on Senior Day

BRISTOL, Pa. – The Cairn University men's soccer team won by a score of 8-0, shutting out Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) foe University of Valley Forge at home on Senior Day Thursday evening.

At halftime, the Highlanders recognized their three seniors that will not be returning next fall, Brandon Hasko (Pitman, NJ / Pitman), David Wadding (Smithtown, NY / The Stony Brook School) and Mike Mikesell (Littlestown, PA / Littlestown).

Cairn (7-2-2, 3-0-1 CSAC) controlled the momentum from the opening kickoff, scoring twice in the first 20 minutes and two more times in the 21st and 23rd minutes to take a 4-0 lead into halftime. The Highlanders doubled their scoring margin in the second half, shutting out Valley Forge (0-10, 0-4 CSAC) and holding the Patriots to only one shot on net.

Six different Highlanders scored in the contest, led by freshman Jesse Brittain (Chester, PA / The Christian Academy) who notched his second career hat trick with three goals in the first half to extend his league-leading goals mark to 13 on the season. Three separate Highlanders scored their first career goals, including sophomore Ben Noble (Egg Harbor Township, NJ / Atlantic Christian), freshman Jonaton Yepes (South Amboy, NJ / Timothy Christian) and Mikesell, who scored the final goal of the contest. Junior David Falcon (Wayne, NJ / Hawthorne Christian) and freshman Jayson Fields (Vineland, NJ / Cumberland Christian) registered the other two tallies for Cairn. Senior goalkeeper Kameron Clark (Ewing, NJ / Ewing) earned the win, decreasing his CSAC-leading goals against average mark to below one goal (0.99) in the process. Freshman keeper Chris Eelman (North Haledon, NJ / Hawthorne Christian) finished out the contest in net, playing the entire second half while yielding no goals.

The Highlanders will be back on the pitch on Saturday, October 16 when they travel to Morristown, New Jersey for a road, conference bout with Saint Elizabeth University at 2 p.m.
