Men’s Soccer: Highlanders Score Three Unanswered in Comeback Win at Saint Elizabeth

MORRISTOWN, N.J.  – The Cairn University men's soccer team won by a score of 3-2 on the road against Colonials States Athletic Conference (CSAC) foe Saint Elizabeth University on Saturday, marking their fifth-straight win. The Highlanders trailed 2-0 at halftime, and scored three unanswered goals in the second half en route to victory.

As mentioned, Saint Elizabeth (7-5-1, 3-2 CSAC) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half, notching goals in the 29th and 31st minutes to claim the advantage. Despite outshooting the Eagles 13-6 in the first 45 minutes, Cairn (8-2-2, 4-0-1 CSAC) trailed by two goals at intermission. The Highlanders started their comeback in the 56th minute, when junior David Falcon (Wayne, NJ / Hawthorne Christian) scored his third goal of the year to cut the deficit to one. In the 79th minute, the Highlanders tied the game when graduate senior Brandon Hasko (Pitman, NJ / Pitman) delivered his third tally of the season. With just over three minutes left in the contest, the Highlanders completed the comeback when freshman Jesse Brittain (Chester, PA / The Christian Academy) scored his CSAC-leading 14th goal of the season to seal the victory.

Cairn bested the Eagles in shots (26-9) and shots on goal (13-6) and also held the advantage in corner kicks (5-1). Brittain led the way offensively with four points (one goal, two assists) and senior goalkeeper Kameron Clark (Ewing, NJ / Ewing) earned four saves in the complete game victory.

The Highlanders will be back on the pitch on Tuesday, October 19 when they travel to Gwynedd Mercy University for their final non-conference game of the season at 3 p.m.
