GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa.  – The Cairn University men's soccer team won by a score of 4-0 on the road against non-conference foe Gwynedd Mercy University on Tuesday, marking their sixth-straight win and their final non-conference game of the season.

Cairn (9-2-2) jumped on the scoreboard over Gwynedd Mercy (1-15) in the 16th minute when senior Josh Goodyear (Camp Hill, PA / Camp Hill) scored inside the box off a feed from classmate Micah Portis (Abington, PA / Abington) to give Cairn a 1-0 lead. The Highlanders added a second goal in the first half when freshman Jayson Fields (Vineland, NJ / Cumberland Christian) found the ball off of a corner kick by junior Jacob O'Brien (Upper Township, NJ / Atlantic Christian) to increase the lead to 2-0. In the 63rd minute, graduate student Brandon Hasko (Pitman, NJ / Pitman) scored off a run with freshman Jesse Brittain (Chester, PA / The Christian Academy) to make it 3-0, before Hasko dished out an assist to Portis less than one minute later to finish off the contest.

Cairn bested the Griffins in shots (25-7) and shots on goal (11-6) and also held a significant advantage in corner kicks (14-1). Senior goalkeeper Kameron Clark (Ewing, NJ / Ewing) started in net, collecting a pair of saves in the first half, while freshman Chris Eelman (North Haledon, NJ / Hawthorne Christian) finished off the shutout in net, grabbing four saves in the process.
