BALTIMORE, Md. – The Cairn University women's soccer team remained unbeaten in conference play with a 2-0 victory over Notre Dame of Maryland University on the road in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) contest on Tuesday. The Highlanders scored two goals in the final seven minutes of the contest to earn the shutout victory.
Cairn (6-4-1, 3-0-1 CSAC) poured shots on Notre Dame (3-5, 2-2 CSAC) in the first half, as they outshot the Gators 10-1 in the first half, including eight shots on goal. However, Notre Dame goalkeeper Ataesia Norris steered away the Highlanders attempts as both teams were tied at intermission. th minute to give Cairn a 1-0 lead. The Highlanders added an insurance goal in the final minute, as Costa again deposited a through ball into the breadbasket of sophomore
Becca Marzinke (Quakertown, PA / Upper Bucks Christian) who scored to give Cairn the 2-0 victory.
Cairn outshot the Gators 21-2 in the contest and bested them in shots on goal (17-1). Cairn also held a slim edge in corner kicks (3-2). Freshman goalkeeper
Isabelle Lazor (Midland Park, NJ / Eastern Christian) collected one save for the complete game, winning effort.
The Highlanders will be back on the pitch on Saturday, October 9 when they continue Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play as they welcome Clarks Summit University to town. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
