Men’s Soccer: Highlanders Handle Defenders for First CSAC Win

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The Cairn University men's soccer team won by a score of 3-1 against rival Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) foe Clarks Summit University on Saturday evening.

Cairn (5-2-2, 1-0-1 CSAC) struck immediately, as graduate student Brandon Hasko (Pitman, NJ / Pitman) got the Highlanders on the board just 32 seconds in to the contest to put the Highlanders up 1-0. The Highlanders increased their lead over Clarks Summit (2-6, 0-2 CSAC) in the 18th minute, when sophomore David Falcon (Wayne, NJ / Hawthorne Christian Academy) netted his first collegiate goal to make it 2-0, a score the Highlanders took into intermission. Cairn increased its lead to a commanding 3-0 margin in the 53rd minute, when freshman Jesse Brittain (Chester, PA / The Christian Academy) got loose past the Defender's back line and scored his conference-leading ninth goal of the year to give Cairn a 3-0 lead. Clarks Summit answered just one minute later, scoring off of a penalty kick to cut the deficit to two. However, the Highlanders back line held firm, only allowing one more shot for the rest of the contest en-route to victory.

Freshman Moses Beers (Lancaster, PA / Manheim Township) paced the Highlanders on offense with a game- and career high three assists, while Goodyear and Falcon also added an assist. Senior goalkeeper Kameron Clark (Ewing, NJ / Ewing) collected three saves in a complete game effort for his fifth victory of the season, upping his CSAC-leading save total to 58 on the season.

The Highlanders will be back on the pitch on Wednesday, October when they travel to CSAC counterpart Bryn Athyn College for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
