BRISTOL, Pa. – The Cairn University women's soccer team suffered its first Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) loss of the 2021 season at home against Cedar Crest College by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday evening.
Cedar Crest (9-1-1, 4-1-0 CSAC) got on the board early after placing a through ball past the Cairn (7-5-1, 4-1-1 CSAC) back line to take a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute. The Falcons took that 1-0 lead into intermission. In the second half, the Highlanders nearly tied the game when sophomore
Teresa Lee (Jackson, NJ / Calvary Academy) fired a shot on net from nearly 30 yards out in the 48
th minute, but Cedar Crest keeper Lauren Makely made the save the keep the Falcon lead intact. Cedar Crest collected an insurance goal in the 68
th minute off of a free kick that granted them a scoring chance that it capitalized on, giving them a 2-0 lead that ended up being the final score.
The Highlanders tallied three shots in the contest, all on net. Cairn freshman goalkeeper
Isabelle Lazor (Midland Park, NJ / Eastern Christian) made three saves in a complete game effort.
The Highlanders will be back on the pitch on Saturday, October 16 when they welcome Centenary University (NJ) to town for their final non-conference bout of the season at Bucks County Community College. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
