GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA- The Highlanders traveled to take on former CSAC opponent Gwynedd Mercy Monday afternoon. After a late-inning rally, the Highlanders eked out a 7-5 win over the Griffins.

Emilio Alvarez double started the scoring for the Highlanders in the top of the first, but the Griffins instantly bounced back with 3 runs in the 2
nd.
Daniel Morales started a two out rally for the Highlanders in the 3
rd with a single. Alvarez followed with a walk, and
Alejandro Fernandez singled to score Morales.
Brian Amantia Jr. reached on an error and
Caleb Edman singled home two runs to give the Highlanders a 5-3 lead. Gwynedd Mercy first basemen Ryan Keen knocked a two-run homerun in the 4
th inning to tie the game, 5-5. The next few innings passed without much drama until the 7
th when the Highlanders loaded the bases, scoring a run on an Amantia walk and taking the lead.
Matthew Meyers pitched great for four innings, shutting down Gwynedd Mercy before ceding the ball to
Daniel Morales with a two run cushion. Morales sat down the Griffins in quick succession, earning the save and the Highlanders 16
th win of the season.

Emilio Alvarez went a perfect 4-4 on the day, while
Alejandro Fernandez and Mike Sorowice each went 3-5. The Highlanders will take on the Centenary Cyclones in a three game series this weekend with a CSAC playoff berth on the line. Come support the Highlanders on their senior day Saturday afternoon!
