LANCASTER, PA- The Highlanders traveled to Lancaster to take on longtime rival Lancaster Bible College. The Highlanders came out on top, taking a 75-72 win over the Chargers to stretch their win streak to 8 games.
In an intense, back-and-forth affair, the Highlanders were able to defeat the Chargers front of a raucous home crowd. The Highlanders
Malachi Hall led the way in the first half, slashing to the rim with ease and knocking down a three as well. Cairn trailed by one at the half but came out on fire in the second, overwhelming the Chargers with their quickness and stretching their lead to 13 points. With Hall out with an injury early in the second half, the Highlanders needed another source of offense to outlast the impending LBC run. Fortunately, the Highlanders
Julian Collazo and
Josh Decker took up the mantle. Collazo utilized his trademark flair around the rim and Decker knocked down increasingly tough shots from behind the arc to keep the Highlanders ahead and push Cairn to the three point victory.
Decker came up huge for the Highlanders, leading the team with 18 points on 5-7 shooting, while Collazo had yet another standout all-around game with 17 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists, and 6 steals.
The Highlanders will take on Valley Forge tonight at 7:00 PM in their senior night game. Cairn will honor the careers of
Josh Decker,
Jordan Koczman,
Seth Brunner, and
Regis Peacock prior to tipoff.
