Highlanders Withstand Cyclones, Win 7th Straight

LANGHORNE, PA- The Highlanders won their 7th straight Saturday afternoon, defeating the visiting Centenary Cyclones 85-81 in a battle between two of the CSAC's top teams.

The Cyclones took the lead from the start, as big man Billy Veras controlled the paint, garnering a couple offensive rebounds and finishing layups to put Centenary ahead.  The tide turned in the Highlanders favor when sharpshooting senior Josh Decker took the floor, making an instant impact by knocking down three threes from increasingly long range to place the momentum firmly in Cairn favor.  Decker's shooting ability opened up driving lanes for Cairn's fleet-footed guards Malachi Hall, Julian Collazo, and Jeremiah Harris. The Highlanders took a 6 point lead into the half, which they stretched as high as 16 over the early stages of the second half.  Unfortunately, the Cyclones two excellent guards, Chris Labelle and Divine Anderson, caught fire down the stretch. Centenary ran high pick-and-rolls and the threat of a rolling Veras sprung Anderson and Labelle for five straight open jumpers. No stranger to close games, the Highlanders never panicked, holding the lead and knocking down clutch free throws to keep their CSAC record perfect.

Jeremiah Harris led the Highlanders with 19 points, shooting 50% from the field and beyond the arc, and a perfect 4-4 from the charity stripe. Decker had a breakout game for the Highlanders as well, knocking down an incredible 5 of his 6 three point attempts to notch 15 points in just 18 minutes.

The Highlanders have a busy week next week, traveling to take on LBC Monday night, hosting the University of Valley Forge Wednesday night, and hosting Rosemont in another CSAC game Saturday night.
