LA PLUME, PA- With a young team, and mixed results over the early portion of their schedule, the Highlanders proved their talent with a 1-0 win over the CSAC's second place team from last year, Keystone College.
Â
After a tie against Cabrini turned the tide of their season, the Highlanders have been on fire as of late, defeating Gwynedd Mercy and the University of Valley Forge in convincing fashion in their last two contests. Riding a wave of confidence, and further buoyed by the return of bruising defenseman
Jared Lanchak, the Highlanders stunned the Giants by when
Brendan Keller pounced on a beautiful pass over the top from
Joey Weaver. Keller outraced the Keystone backline and fired into the back of the net in just the 11
th minute to give the Highlanders a 1-0 lead. The Giants threatened to even the match, but the backline of Lanchak, imposing senior Ty Smith,
Ryan Leatherman, and
Josh Goodyear held off Keystone, forcing the Giants to take speculative chances and only allowing one shot on goal. Goodyear nearly added a second goal for the Highlanders when his header snuck past the keeper but was saved off the line by the Giants defense.  After an offensive battle in the first half, the Highlanders buckled down on the defensive end in the second half. Enduring a furious Keystone effort to draw level, the Highlanders relied on freshman keeper Kam Clark who showed incredible poise in saving 4 of the Giants 6 shots in the second half. After a final effort from Keystone soared over the top of the crossbar, the final whistle blew minutes later and the Highlanders completed a 1-0 victory, cementing themselves as the team to beat in the Colonial States Athletic Conference.

The Highlanders will ride their three game winning streak to Arcadia University for a non-conference game this Wednesday, before hosting Clarks Summit University at homecoming this Saturday.
