FLEMINGTON, NJ- On another April showered day, the Highlanders traveled to Centenary University seeking their third straight and eighth win out of their last nine games. The Highlanders showed incredible grit, outlasting the Cyclones and taking a 14-11 victory.

The Highlanders pounced on Cyclone starter Nick Scotto, racking up four quick runs when Jake Allen walked, Nate Wilson and
Emilio Alvarez singled, and
Daniel Morales and
Alejandro Fernandez followed up with two out base knocks to put the Highlanders ahead. Catcher
Brett Marks showed some serious wheels in the top of the 3
rd, scoring from first on yet another double from Morales. The next couple innings passed without much fanfare as starter
Eric Stinglen mowed through the Cyclones lineup and the Highlanders tacked on a few insurance runs. The game took a turn in the bottom of the 8
th when Highlanders stud
Sam Dralle left with an injury. Hanging on to a 9-4 lead, Coach
Phill Shallenberger turned to freshman
Isaac Morrison to shut the door and sneak the Highlanders out of a bases loaded jam. Morrison has been nearly unhittable in the first half of the season, but today was simply not his day. The freshman walked in three runs before ceding the ball to
Matt Trotman, Trotman also struggled with command and the Cyclones knocked in two more runs off the senior to tie the game. The Highlanders de facto closer
Daniel Morales took the mound, and after allowing a double finally recorded two straight outs to finish the inning. Now trailing 11-9, the Highlanders would need to summon every vestige of their remaining energy to battle back.

Alejandro Fernandez started the top of the 9
th with a double, He was singled to third base by
Andrew Philips, and Jake Allen walked to load the bases. Sophomore outfielder
Jonathan Jaynes stepped to the plate after taking the place for an injured
Brian Amantia. Known more for his incredible speed, Jaynes came through in a major way by lacing a double to right field and tying the game. Nate Wilson followed with another double to give Cairn a 13-11 lead, and
Emilio Alvarez singled in Wilson to tack on another run. Morales shut the door to complete the Highlanders dramatic victory.

The Highlanders carded 20 hits on the afternoon, led by Morales who stayed hot with 4 more and 3 RBIs. Fernandez and Philips each notched 3 hits, while Jake Allen and Nate Wilson applied tremendous pressure with 3 hits, 2 runs, and 3 stolen bases. Â

th straight win against Penn State Abington this afternoon. First pitch is slated for 3:30 PM.
