SCRANTON, PA- After a narrow win earlier this week, the Highlanders traveled to Scranton to finish their series with the Marywood Pacers. The Highlanders used a couple big innings and dominant pitching out of the bullpen to shut down the Pacers and win 13-6.
Â
Cairn threw the first blow in the top of the first when
Jacob Allen walked to start the game. Nate Wilson singled, advancing Allen to third, Allen scored on a balk, and
Brett Marks knocked a single over the third basemen to give Cairn an early 2-0 lead. Marywood got three runs back in the bottom half, but the Highlanders bounced back in a major way in the second. Cairn pushed five runs across thanks to four straight walks, before
Emilio Alvarez and
Daniel Morales struck the deciding blows with singles to clear the bases. The Highlanders held their lead, tacking on three more runs in the top of the fourth after freshman
Brian Amantia hit his second homer in as many games to continue the offensive dominance.
Daniel Morales added to the Highlanders lead with a solo homerun of his own, and
Carson Conradt and
Nat Ross shut the door in relief as Conradt pitched three innings of one hit ball and Ross allowed one run in his inning of work.
Â
Emilio Alvarez picked up his fourth win of the year, in addition to a 3-5, 3 RBI performance at the plate. Morales had another fantastic performance, stuffing the stat sheet with 3 hits, 3 RBI, 1 walk, and a stolen base.

The Highlanders will play their next CSAC matchup when they host Centenary University at 3:30 PM Monday afternoon.
