GREENVILLE, PA- The Highlanders hit the road this weekend, traveling to take on Thiel College Friday night and Juniata College on Saturday. Against the Tomcats, Cairn came close in each set but was unable to overcome the Thiel defense and lost the match 0-3.
 
The Highlanders jumped on Thiel in the first set, taking an early lead 7-5 after two straight kills from Micah Godshall. Another Godshall kill and two Tomcat errors kept the Highlanders ahead 10-9, until the momentum swung firmly in Thiel's favor- as the Tomcat's scored 10 of the next 13 points to take the lead and win the first set 25-20. The second set stayed close the entire way, as the Highlanders used their stellar defense to force Thiel into numerous errors. With the score set at 19 apiece, the Highlanders were unable to break through the Tomcat defense and dropped the second set 20-25 as well. Needing a spark to spur their comeback the Highlanders leaned on Godshall, and mixed up their offense as Ryan Ludvik dished assists to Anton Deleon and Aaron Delbury as well. Unfortunately, the Thiel offense found their groove as well and the Highlanders dropped the set 17-25, and the match 0-3.
 
Godshall led the Highlanders with 10 kills and 5 digs, while Ryan Ludvik led with 15 assists and 7 digs. The Highlanders take on powerhouse Juniata College on Saturday seeking another CVC victory.
