HUNTINGDON, PA- The Highlanders played their second match of the weekend, heading east and stopping at Juniata College for a CVC match on their way home. After a slow start, the Highlanders gave the powerhouse Eagles a great test, but ultimately dropped the match 0-3.
Shaking off the rust after a three hour van ride, the Highlanders were unable to find any consistent rhythm against the Eagle's fine-tuned offense in the first set, falling by a score of 10-25. The Highlanders started off much stronger in the second set, trading kills and bringing the score to 8-9 after kills from
Micah Godshall,
Juston Wolgemuth, and Anton Deleon. Unfortunately, a seven point run would allow the Eagles to take control and win the second set 15-25. The third set started off slowly as well, with the Eagles taking a 5-0 lead. The Highlanders would battle back in the middle of the set as four kills from Godshall and a kill and service ace from
Juston Wolgemuth would bring the Highlanders back into the mix. Despite the Highlanders scrappiness, Juniata would complete the third set victory once again by a score of 15-25.
Godshall led all players with 10 kills, while also notching 6 digs, and
Juston Wolgemuth, in his first game back, provided a spark off the bench with 4 kills of his own.
