LANGHORNE, PA- The Highlanders played a non-conference matchup against Medgar Evers College, keeping their winning streak rolling by defeating the Cougars 10-0.
Â
In just the second minute of play,
Dakota Hitchner raced past the Cougars back line and fired past the keeper for Cairn's first goal of the afternoon. Just a minute later the Highlanders carded their second and third goals as
Sara Hayduchok ran onto a through ball from
Leah Kochersperger, and
Dakota Hitchner slotted her second home. The Highlanders goal parade kept up over the afternoon as Hayduchok tallied her second, and
Julianne Albrecht,
Isabella Palladino, and
Allie Fort carded their first to give Cairn a substantial lead at the half. The one constant across the Highlanders goal scoring was the consistently excellent play of center midfielder
Katie Ruitto. The captain assisted on four of the Highlanders goals before notching her own in the 49
th minute. Wrapping up the Highlanders efforts was center back
Carly Eubank's first goal of the season in the 56
th minute, as the senior sprinted past the defense and expertly slotted her shot into the left side netting. Despite the Highlanders offensive flurry, Medgar Evers keeper Jody-Ann Blanchad performed admirably, notching an incredible 15 saves on the afternoon.
Â
The Highlanders won their fourth straight, and kept their home record at a perfect 5-0 for the season. Cairn will play one more non-conference contest this Wednesday when they travel to Penn State-Abington to take on the Nittany Lions at 4:00 PM.
