LANGHORNE, PA- The Highlanders women's soccer team lost another tough conference contest this afternoon, dropping the game by a score 6-2.
The Highlanders played their hearts out in front of a massive homecoming crowd, but unfortunately could not generate enough offense to keep up with the high-powered Mighty Mac attack. Immaculata jumped out ot an early lead as their standout forward Carley Peacher quickly got on the board with her 6th and 7th goals of the season. Cairn's own goal-scoring machine
Courtney Novak answered for the Highlanders in the 28th minute. After a corner kick, a shot was deflected towards Novak who quickly gathered and fired into the left corner for her fourth goal of the season. With the score sitting at 2-1, Peacher netted her third of the afternoon towards the end of the first half to bring the score to 3-1. The Highlander defense would falter a bit in the second half, conceding two goals midway through, until
Courtney Novak made her mark once again. Novak received a square ball from the midfield, spun, held off a defender and launched a spectacular long-range effort that floated over the Immaculata keeper's outstretched hand. The goal was Novak's 5th of the season. When the final horn sounded, Cairn had succumbed to Immaculata by a final score of 6-2.
The Highlanders will seek to bounce back when they host Wilson College at 3:30 PM this Monday afternoon.
