IMMACULATA, PA- The Highlanders took their hot streak on the road tonight, facing off against CSAC opponent Immaculata University and achieving yet another victory after a stellar second half.
In front of a raucous crowd at Draper Walsh Stadium the Highlanders faced perhaps the toughest test of their season thus far in the Mighty Macs. Adversity struck early when Alex Noel blasted his 7th goal of the season past Cairn keeper
Grant Grogan in the 4th minute. Not to be outdone,
Brett Kikendall equalized for the Highlanders only 3 minutes later as he deposited a deflection into the back of the net for his 5th of the season. In a sloppy first half, the Highlanders would concede again in the 11th when a header was nodded past Grogan for the Mighty Macs second of the afternoon. Freshman
Brandon Hasko, who has come on strong over the last couple contests, played a huge part in the Highlanders' efforts this afternoon. Hasko would slot home a rebound off a Kikendall free kick in the 18th to tie the affair once more. After an inordinate amount of action throughout the first 20 minutes both teams would buckle down over the remainder of the first half.
Coach
Luke Gibson made some key adjustments leading up to the second half and Cairn controlled the action for the remainder of the contest. The Highlanders peppered the Mighty Macs net with 12 shots and held Immaculata to only 4 shots over the second half of play. Hasko would net his 2nd of the season and the eventual winner for the Highlanders when he finished a
Brendan Keller cross with authority in the 57th minute. When
Brett Kikendall got his foot on a
Brady Dorman cross in the 83rd, the Highlanders put the cap on their 6th straight victory.
Cairn currently resides atop the CSAC standings with a 7-3 record, and a 2-0 mark in the CSAC. The Highlanders will host Centenary University on Homecoming weekend this Saturday at 4:00 PM.
