Late Run Seals Victory for Highlanders over Pacers

Langhorne, PA - Tied with the Marywood Pacers, 43-43 with three minutes on the clock, Jeremiah Harris battled through contact and made a layup to put the Highlanders up by two. Harris proceeded to knock down his free throw to complete the three-point play. That bucket sparked a 14-0 run for Cairn over the final three minutes to seal a 57-43 victory over the Pacers. Harris led Cairn with 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for his second-career double-double and seventh-straight game with double-digit points.

After trailing 29-27 at the half, the Highlanders held Marywood to just 14 points in the second-half. On the game the Highlanders held Marywood to a 27.3 percent mark (15-55) from the field. While Cairn also struggled from the field with a 32.1 percent mark from the floor (18-56), they made their buckets count with seven made threes (7-19) against just four for the Pacers (4-21).

Saturday's contest started with five quick points for the Highlanders with a three by Zachary Dolton and a turn-around jumper by Seil Park. After a pair of Marywood free throws that Highlanders hit two more threes, these off shots from Gerroid Doughty II and JD Zamroz to put Cairn up 11-2 just three minutes into the contest.

After the early outburst, the Highlanders were held scoreless for the next 4:40. The Highlanders' scoring drought allowed Marywood to climb back into the game. The Pacers went on a 10-0 run to take a 12-11 lead. During the run, Marywood's Jeremy Ringland accounted for eight of his game-high 20 points.

Fueled by a pair of threes from Josh Decker, the Highlanders countered with a 10-4 run that put them back in the lead at 21-16 with 8:12 remaining in the half. Marywood closed out the half on a 13-6 run to take a 29-27 lead into the locker room at the break.

After the break the Highlanders scored the first four points of the half to take a 31-29 lead. The two sides then traded buckets for the next ten minutes. As mentioned, both team shot the ball particularly well in the game. Those struggles were apparent in the second-half; the Highlanders struggled to an 8-32 mark (25.0%) from the field while the Pacers went just 6-30 (20.0%).

With the Highlanders leading 43-41, Ringland made a layup to tie the game at 43-43 with 3:25 remaining. On the ensuing possession, Chris Uhrich missed a jumper but Jeremiah Harris was there for one of his game-high 10 rebounds and then put through the layup to break the tie and turn the momentum in favor of the Highlanders for the remaining three minutes.

The next points came off a three from Zachary Dolton and the Highlanders went up by six. Over the final 70 seconds, the Highlanders went 8-10 from the line to close out their fifth victory of the season.

With the victory, the Highlanders move to 5-15 on the season and 3-11 in the CSAC. The Highlanders will next take the floor on Monday when they travel to Valley Forge to take on the Patriots at 7:00 p.m.
