Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Late Goals Power Wesley Over Cairn

Dover, DE - The Cairn women's soccer team traveled to Wesley College on Saturday afternoon. The Wolverines jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a goal in the ninth minute before pulling away with six second-half goals en route to a 7-0 decision.

Playing with just 11 players, the Highlanders fought valiantly throughout the ninety minutes. However it was clear that as the game wore on Cairn didn't have as much in the tank as Wesley. The Highlanders held tough allowing just one goal in the first 50 minutes before Wesley broke through and connected on six in the final 40 minutes, including four in the final 10 minutes.

Aleya Cummings collected a natural hat trick scoring the first three goals of the contest. She added another in the 82nd minute to led Wesley with four tallies. Three other Wolverines scored on the afternoon.

In goal for the Highlanders Mackenzie Paugh played a tremendous game, making a number of difficult saves to keep the Highlanders in the game throughout the majority of the afternoon. When it was all said and done Paugh collected 12 saves, her fifth most in a single-game.

On the day the Wolverines outshot the Highlanders 27-0.

Cairn will next take the field on Thursday when they host the Eastern Mennonite Royals at 4:00 p.m.
