Valley Forge, PA - The Cairn Highlanders got back in the win column with a 6-0 victory over the Patriots of Valley Forge on Wednesday afternoon.
Meghan Wilson tallied a hat trick on the afternoon with two early goals in the 11th and 14th minutes to give the Highlanders some early momentum. Cairn tallied two more before the break and took a 4-0 lead into halftime before two second-half goals gave the Highlanders the 6-0 win

Along with Wilson's hat trick were goals by
Julianne Miller,
Courtney Novak, and
Katie Ruitto.

As mentioned, Wilson wasted no time getting the Highlanders on the board in the 11th minute with a pass from
Payton Emerick. Wilson then tallied in the 13th minute to give the Highlanders a commanding 2-0 before the Patriots had registered a shot. Wilson's first two goals came after a slew of attempts by Cairn. In the first 15 minutes the Highlanders register eight shots and the two goals.

Wilson's second goal came off a pass from
Hannah Morrison.

The Highlanders continued to pressure the Valley Forge defense rattling off four more shots in the next ten minutes. In this stretch however, the Patriots got off their only real chances of the match with a corner kick in the 17th minute and a shot in the 19th minute that forced the Highlanders' goalie at the time,
Hannah Barker, to make her first career save.

At the end of the stretch was
Julianne Miller's goal in the 18th minute off a pass from
Sierra Kiekel.

Courtney Novak tallied the Highlanders' final goal of the half in the 37th minute and Cairn took a 4-0 lead into the half.

After the break the Highlanders converted two more opportunities, one off the foot of Wilson in the 54th minute and another from
Katie Ruitto in the 75th minute.

Wilson's second-half goal marked her third career hat trick and her second against Valley Forge. Wilson's previous ticks came against Valley Forge (Aug. 29, 2014) and The City College of New York (Sept. 9, 2015).

On the afternoon the Highlanders outshot the Patriots 40-1, while putting 25 shots on frame. Taniyah Faison, the Patriots keeper, made 19 saves on the afternoon against six goals.

In goal for the Highlanders, Baker logged 67 minute in
Mackenzie Paugh's absence and saved the only shot she faced. Wilson played the other 23 minute between the pipes, without facing a shot.

The Highlanders will next take the field on Tuesday when they travel to Scranton to take on Marywood in their CSAC opener at 7:00 p.m.
