Langhorne, PA – The Highlanders went 0-2 on Friday afternoon after hosting Keystone College in a Colonial States Athletic Conference doubleheader. The Giants took the first game 12-3 and the second game 2-0 as the Highlanders fell to 10-10 overall this season.
The Giants were able to scored eight runs in the second inning of the first game, which the Highlanders were never able to recover from. The Highlanders collected 10 hits overall in game one, led by
Joey Nieves-Markee,
Caleb Lang, and
Jacob Allen who each had two knocks.
Eric Stinglen pitched the first four innings of the game for the Highlanders and picked up the loss. Felix Baez got the win for the Giants with five innings pitched and eight strikeouts.
Julian Lanfranco led the Giants from the plate by going 3-for-4 with two RBI and a homerun. Chris Triano also homered in the game, while Louis Reyes and Billy Nelson were both 3-for-5 with two RBI each.
Sam Dralle gave the Highlanders a much better chance at a win in game two after pitching a no-hitter through five innings. The freshman pitched the complete game with just three hits, however letting up two runs on a sacrifice fly and a homerun.
The Highlanders doubled up on the Giants' hits in the game with six total, but were unable to get any runners across the plate. In total, Cairn stranded 10 runners on base. James Dunning picked up the win for the Giants after five innings pitched with six strikeouts.
Aaron Takacs led the Highlanders by going 3-for-3 at the plate with a walk and a stolen base. Takacs was the only Highlander to have multiple at bats and not be struck out in the game.
With the losses, Cairn fell to 0-6 in the conference this season. Keystone improved to 15-4 overall and 4-1 in the conference with the wins. The Highlanders will finish out the series with the Giants on Sunday, April 10
th, in Moosic, Pa.
