Knights Edge Highlanders In CSAC Doubleheader

Aston, PA – Cairn University baseball travelled to Neumann University on Sunday to make up for postponed games earlier this season, where the Knights won both games of the doubleheader. Neumann secured wins of 6-3 in both of the games and forced the Highlanders back to 14-14 overall this season.

The Highlanders struck first in both of the games but were unable to continue scoring runs throughout. Cairn held a 3-0 lead after the first inning of game one and led 3-2 after the fifth inning. The Knights then scored on a two-RBI double and two-RBI homerun in the sixth inning for the 6-3 win in game one.

Brett Marks led the hitting for the Highlanders in both games, going 5-for-6 on the day with two RBI, a double, and a run scored. Joey Nieves-Markee went 2-for-3 in game two with two runs scored, a double, and a walk, while Marks went 3-for-3 in game two.

Caleb Lang collected three RBI across both games and continues to lead the Highlanders this season in RBIs with 38 total.

Eric Stinglen picked up the loss on the mound in game one as a relief pitcher, while Daniel Morales got the loss in game two pitching the complete game. Neumann's Cody MacNair went 3-for-4 in both of the games to lead the Knight's hitting effort.

Cairn dropped to 2-10 in the CSAC this season with the losses, while Neumann improved to 8-4 in the conference with the wins. The Highlanders will return to the diamond this week when they host the University of Valley Forge on Tuesday afternoon for a non-conference doubleheader.
