Allamuchy, NJ – The Highlanders dropped two games to Centenary College on Saturday afternoon in a doubleheader to finish out the series with the Cyclones. Cairn lost the first game 2-0 and the second game 13-4 against two strong Cyclone pitchers.
Centenary's Trey Hinkle picked up the win in game one after only allowing three hits by the Highlanders and striking out eight batters in the complete game shutout. In game two Jimmy Kraivec got the win for Centenary and allowed five runs over four innings. Ryan St. John earned the save and pitched three innings in the second game.
The loss for
Sam Dralle in the first game was his second to a CSAC opponent with a 2-0 final score. The freshman also struck out eight batters and pitched all six innings for the Highlanders while giving up nine hits. Dralle now leads the team in strikeouts this season with 30.
John Burlaga picked up the loss in game two after going three innings and giving up five runs. The Cyclones came back from being down 4-0 after two innings and took the lead 5-4 in the fourth inning. Centenary then scored seven runs in the fifth inning to seal the win.
Caleb Lang led the Highlanders from the plate in both games, going 2-for-3 in the first game and 3-for-4 in game two.
Matthew Buckery highlighted game two with a solo home run in the second inning; his first homer of the season.
Cairn fell to 14-12 overall this season with the losses and 2-8 in the conference. Centenary improved to 14-10 overall and 4-5 in the CSAC with the wins. The Highlanders will play their third day in a row when they travel to Neumann University on Sunday to close out their series.
