Cairn Takes Two Wins At Penn State Brandywine

Aston, PA – The Highlanders moved to .500 overall this season (7-7) with two wins against Penn State Brandywine on Tuesday afternoon. John Burlaga collected the win in game one, while Eric Stinglen picked up the win in game two.
 
Cairn won the first game 11-2 behind 10 hits. Joey Nieves-Markee, Caleb Lang, and Matthew Buckery all went 2-3 in the game and hit at least one RBI. Nieves-Markee led the team in runs scored with three.
 
The Highlanders jumped ahead 6-1 in the second inning with five runs and added four more in the fourth inning. John Burlaga pitched the first five innings and struck out six batters; Matt Trotman finished off the final two innings with one strikeout and one hit.
 
In the second game of the day, Cairn scored three of their seven runs on sacrifice flies. Joey Nieves-Markee led the team in hits and went 3-3 with a triple and a stolen base. Caleb Lang went 2-3, while Matthew Buckery was 2-4 with two RBI and a double.
 
The Highlanders currently lead the CSAC with 18 sacrifice flies; the next closest team has seven. Caleb Lang (.491) and Aaron Takacs (.458) are leading the CSAC in batting average.
 
Cairn will take more than a week off from here before playing their next game at home against Central Penn College on Wed., March 30, at 3 p.m.
