Aston, PA - The Cairn women's volleyball team was swept in straight-sets by the Neumann Knights on Tuesday afternoon, 3-0 (25-11, 25-13, 25-11).
Brie Norton led the Highlanders with four kills and a .500 hitting percentage on the afternoon. The loss drops the Highlanders to 4-13 overall and 2-8 in the CSAC.

The Neumann Knights used a run of seven-plus points in each set to pull away from the Highlanders. In the first set
Whitney Seidel and
Brie Norton collected back-to-back kills to pull the Highlanders within five at 12-7 before the Knights used their big run. A 7-0 run pushed the Neumann lead to 19-7 and the Knights didn't look back, picking up the first set by a 25-11 final.

The second-set was a little more back and forth for a majority of the game. Cairn led at 4-3 and was later tied at 5-5. With the Highlanders trailing 16-12 the Knights again used a 7-0 run to jump ahead by 11 before taking the set 25-13.

In the third and final set the Highlanders trailed 5-4 before a 9-0 run by the Knights put Neumann up by 10. After Cairn won four of the next six points, including a kill and an ace by
Haley Sheehan the Knights rattled off five straight points and nine of the final 12 points to take the third set 25-11 and the match 3-0.

On the evening,
Haley Sheehan led Cairn with five kills.
Olivia Smiley and
Brie Norton each added four kills apiece. Norton collected a hitting percentage of .500 on the evening.

Cairn will next take the court on Saturday when they travel to Wilkes-Barre, Pa. to take on the King's College Lions and Bryn Athyn Lions in a tri-match. Cairn will take on Bryn Athyn at 1:00 p.m. and King's at 3:00 p.m.
