Polino Carries Rosemont Over Highlanders in Langhorne

Langhorne, PA - Madeline Polino scored four goals for the Rosemont Ravens on Wednesday afternoon as the Ravens topped the Cairn women's soccer team 4-3. Despite the Highlanders outshooting the Ravens 29-10 on the afternoon, Rosemont made the most of their opportunities scoring on four of their seven shots on frame.

Aria Hess scored her first career goal early for the Highlanders in the eighth minute before Polino scored four straight to give the Ravens a 4-1 lead. Hannah Morrison connected in the 78th minute and Meghan Wilson scored her tenth of the season in the 79th minute, but it wasn't enough as Rosemont held on for the 4-3 victory.

In the eighth minute Meghan Wilson had a rip from well outside the box that rattled off the crossbar. The rebound came right to the feet of Aria Hess on the left-side of the box. Hess took a touch to control possession and then took a shot that snuck past the keeper for her first career goal.

The Highlanders continued the early pressure with five more shots in the next seven minutes but only two found the frame and both were turned away by the Rosemont goalie Jenna Kaiser.

Just seven minutes after Hess put the Highlanders on the board Rosemont countered with Madeline Polino's first goal of the afternoon. Melissa Lynch sent a one-touch pass ahead to Polino, who ran onto the pass and used her speed to go one-on-one with the keeper. Her shot went lower left and found the back of the net.

Polino wasn't done as she found the back of the net in the 56th, 65th, and 76th minutes. Polino's career day tripled her career goal total entering the afternoon. Before this afternoon's contest, Polino had two career goals, one in both 2015 and 2016. The sophomore returns home with six career goals to her credit after a four goal performance this afternoon.

Despite Polino's best efforts to put the Highlanders away, Cairn came roaring back with two goals in an 82 second span. Hannah Morrison scored the first of Cairn's two goals with a strike from the top right of the box to the upper left-corner of the net. The unassisted goal came in the 78th minute and was Morrison's second of the season.

Just moments later Meghan Wilson was slotted a ball by Morrison down the left side of the box. Wilson touched around the Rosemont keeper, who had abandoned her line. Wilson's ball snuck over the line for her 10th goal of the season and her fifth straight game with a goal.

Cairn continued to pressure looking for the equalizer. Their best late chance came in the 85th minute when Courtney Novak had space at the six but her shot to the near post was scooped up by Jenna Kaiser, the Ravens' keeper.

The loss drops the Highlanders to 4-7-0 overall and 1-5-0 in the CSAC. Cairn will next take the field on Saturday when they travel to Cedar Crest. Game time is slated for 1:00 p.m.
