Langhorne, PA - Four different Highlanders tallied on Homecoming as the Cairn women's soccer team defeat The City College of New York Beavers 5-2 on Saturday afternoon. Courtney Novak led the charge off the bench with a pair of goals, her first multi-goal game of the season and the fifth of her career.

The Highlanders picked up a goal in the 11th minute to take control of the early going. Cairn connected off the foot of Payton Emerick. Meghan Wilson found Emerick for the tally, it was Emerick's second goal of the season and Wilson's first assist of the year.

After the early goal the Beavers searched for a counter while the Highlanders looked for a goal to double their lead. Both teams had their chances over the remaining 30-plus minutes in the period but neither could find the goal they were searching for.

As the teams went to half-time the Highlanders led 1-0 on the scoreboard and held a 13-4 in shots.

While goals were at a premium in the first-half, they had no trouble being found in half number two. The Beavers found the equalizer less than seven minutes into the second-half, when Isabella Molina found the back of the net in the 52nd minute. Just one minute later Courtney Novak countered with her first of two goals in the half, an unassisted tally.

Cairn kept up the pressure with goals from Meghan Wilson in the 64th minute and Katie Ruitto in the 70th minute to build a 4-1 lead. Emerick assisted both Wilson and Ruitto's goals, on Wilson's she sent a flick to the left-side of the goal where Wilson was able to take a touch to the left and fire a shot past the keeper for seventh goal of the season. Six minutes later, Emerick passed out another dime with a through ball to Ruitto down the middle of field that Katie ran onto for the Highlanders' fourth goal of the day.

After Cairn allowed an own goal in the 71st minute, Courtney Novak capped off the Homecoming victory for the Highlanders with a tally in the 89th minute. On her second goal of the day, Novak maneuvered her way around the keeper and found the back of the net for Cairn's fifth and final goal of the game.

On the day, Payton Emerick (one goal, two assists) and Courtney Novak (two goals) each collected four points to carry the Highlanders to their third victory of the season.

The win improves the Highlanders to 3-5-0 on the season and they next take the pitch on Tuesday when they host Neumann University at 3:30 p.m.
