Langhorne, PA – Cairn men's soccer lost a tight game to Emory & Henry College on Saturday afternoon on their home field 2-1 to drop to 3-2 overall in 2015. The Highlanders gave up two goals within seven minutes of each other in the first half and were not able to come back in the second half.
The Highlanders had the clear advantage in the second half as they led on shots (11-5), and corner kicks (10-1). However, Cairn was not able to get enough shots on goal to really test the goalkeeper and possibly tie the game.
Cairn was able to cut the deficit in half in the 65
th minute of the game on what was Cairn's best goal of the season by
Paul Franco. The ball was sent into the box but not taken down right away, Franco picked up the loose, bouncing ball in front of the goal and bicycle kicked it over his and the goalie's head in to the back of the net.

Aaron Myers with his shot to the right side of the goal. Myers guessed to the left and was caught off balance with the shot that went just inside the right post.
Emory & Henry's second goal was due to a missed clearance by Myers after he came out of the goal to cut off the ball from a running Wasp player. Tyequis Stallins collected the ball and slotted it in past the defense into the open net.
The Highlanders came very close to tying the game in the second half on more than one occasion.
Connor Eby and
Craig Kikendall had shots that ultimately went high over the goal but the chance was there for them to capitalize.
With the loss, Cairn dropped to 3-2 this season, while Emory & Henry improved to 2-2-1 for 2015. The Highlanders will return to action this Tuesday, Sep. 15, when they travel to Lancaster Bible College for a 4 p.m. game.
