Highlanders Fall To Ospreys 7-0 At Home

Langhorne, PA - Cairn University hosted Stockton University on Monday afternoon in non-conference baseball action for a single, nine inning game. The Ospreys came away with the victory, 7-0, behind 11 hits. The Highlanders had five hits with three errors.

Ryan Aidan picked up the win for the Ospreys, having pitched four innings as the reliever. Ryan recorded five strikeouts and had four hits. Matt Trotman started the game for the Highlanders and pitched six innings in the loss; his third of the year.

Leading the offensive effort in the game for the Highlanders was John Burlaga with two hits; both of which were doubles. His first came in the bottom of the second when he hit a lead-off double to put the Highlanders in good position to tie the game at 1-1. However, Burlaga didn't move off the bag for the rest of the inning, unable to get batted around.

Burlaga once again hit a lead-off double in the bottom of the sixth inning, but that was followed up by two ground-outs and a pop-up. Cairn had other opportunities throughout the game with runners in scoring position and were unable to score.

The Ospreys were led by George Eisenhart who went 4-4 with two RBI. Stephen Struble added two hits, two RBI, and one run scored.

Also recording hits for the Highlanders in the game were Joey Nieves-Markee, Tristan Ortega, and Zachary Vegh

Stockton scored most of their runs in the third inning behind two singles and two doubles, scoring one run on each hit. The Ospreys started out the inning reaching base on a hit by pitch.

With the loss, Cairn dropped to 4-12 on the year, while Stockton improved to 9-5 this season with the win. The Highlanders will face off against Penn State Brandywine in a home single game tomorrow, Mar. 31, at 4 p.m.
