Swarthmore, PA - The Highlanders had no answer for the Garnet hitting and pitching and lost their first game back from spring break 21-0 to fall to 2-6 this season. Cairn went through six pitchers in the game to try to slow down the bats for Swarthmore but it wasn't enough in the end.
Swarthmore racked up 15 hits by the end of the game, led by John Lim with three hits and four runs scored. Zach Powell also had three hits in three at bats.
Caleb Moore led the Highlanders with two hits in four at bats; Moore also collected four putouts in the game.
Mike Boucher and
Zachary Vegh recorded the only other hits for Cairn in the game; Boucher also had a stolen base.
John Burlaga had the best performance from the mound for Cairn. Burlaga pitched two innings with no runs scored and one strikeout.
Cairn will look to recover when they face off against New York University tomorrow afternoon, Mar. 18, at home at 2 p.m. for a doubleheader.
