Scranton, PA – Cairn women's soccer fell to Marywood University on Wednesday afternoon with a 3-1 score in CSAC conference action. The Pacers netted two goals in the second half to pull out the win over the Highlanders and improve to 4-1 in the conference.
Meghan Wilson (New Hope, PA/New Hope-Solebury) tied the game at 1-1 in the 41
st minute of the game on a breakaway for her 12
th goal of the season. Wilson had five shots overall and two on goal.
Mackenzie Paugh (Galloway, NJ/Absegami ) played well in goal for the Highlanders and made 17 saves in the game.
Megan Swiecicki scored the opening goal for the Pacers in the 5
th minute of the game. Julie Youngman then scored the winner and the third goal for the Pacers in the 53
rd and 83
rd minutes. Brianna Bruster assisted on Youngman's first, while Ashley Kruchinsky assisted on her second goal.
Overall, Marywood took 28 shots in the game to Cairn's nine. Youngman led on shots for the Pacers with 10.
Laurisa Wager (Victor, NY/Homeschool) had two shots, both on goal, for the Highlanders and
Alicia Geistdorfer (Perkiomenville, PA/Christopher Dock) had one shot on goal.
With the loss, Cairn fell to 4-7 overall and 2-3 in the conference. Marywood improved to 5-5-1 overall and 4-1 in the CSAC with the win. The Highlanders will next host Gwynedd Mercy University on Saturday, Oct. 10, at 1 p.m.
